A Movement Psychology Approach to Acting.

About:

The Yat/ Bentley approach to Movement Psychology comes directly from Master Teacher/ Director, Tom Bentley who runs the Yat/Bentley Centre for Performance in Berkeley, CA.

Tom Bentley was the last private student movement teacher Yat Malmgren worked with. Malmgren was known for shaping successful actors like Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Anthony Hopkins.  Malmgren's work synthesized Laban's system of analyzing and classifying movement with Stanislavsky's Method and put them to work with Carl Jung's psychological theories of energy (Sensing, Thinking, Intuiting & Feeling), creating 'Movement Psychology' aka 'The Yat Method'.

By sensitizing ourselves to how movement manifests through these four windows in our own bodies we're better able to reorganize them into different combinations. This is how we build character in Movement Psychology.

  • You'll learn how to rearrange your own energy into different combinations to develop characters.
  • Learn how to tune into what your body is telling you, to make bold choices and to play on your edge in a safe environment.
